PitBull Foundation Suite Benefits
  • Streamlines architectures, improves performance, and reduces costs and manpower requirements compared to common security practices.
  • Allows users from the Internet to access back-end applications in a totally safe, secure environment.
  • Provides secure, remote administration of PitBull-enabled servers.
  • Modular approach allows software to be tailored to a specific customer's environment.
  • Completely compatible with all applications supported by the standard base OS for quick configuration and integration.
  • Installs as a simple upgrade to Sun Solaris.
Secure Transaction Platform

PitBull Foundation Suite is a high-performance, industrial-strength secure platform designed to support Internet-based electronic business processes. Employing the strongest security framework on the market, PitBull Foundation Suite allows Internet-based users to securely and efficiently connect directly to enterprise back-end systems and business processes, facilitating totally secure commercial transactions. PitBull Foundation Suite provides mechanisms to implement fine-grain differentiated access to computing resources to prevent web-based transaction servers from being compromised and used as an uncontrolled conduit into mission-critical computing assets located on internal networks.

Used in conjunction with PitBull Foundation, PitBull Foundation Suite surrounds the operating system with a solutions-oriented suite of modules which allow users to quickly and efficiently integrate PitBull security features into their environment. Each component was created to isolate mission-critical operations from untrusted software and users. Major modules include:

SECURE COMMUNICATIONS ENFORCER

A tightly integrated trusted program that (unlike other PitBull processes) can pass packets between different security partitions. Its purpose is to examine each incoming request and, if validated, direct it to the appropriate service.

SECURITY GATE

A trusted software component that mediates limited, secure communication between applications or utilities in separate compartments, without allowing them to access each other's files directly. For example, the Security Gate would control communication between the e-business server and backend systems to protect the latter from non-secure network interfaces or security weaknesses in the web server software.

SECURE CGI MODULE

Isolates the CGI functionality of a web server from the web server itself. With the Secure CGI Module, a security flaw in a CGI script can't be used to modify the server, the HTML pages, or the CGI files.

SECURE AUTHENTICATION MODULE

Places the authentication responsibilities of the web server into its own compartment, in order to restrict access to the sensitive information typically used in the user authentication process.

IPSEC ENCRYPTION

Provides encryption of network traffic between PitBull-enabled servers for a complete end-to-end security solution.

SECURE PROGRAM LAUNCHER

Allows users without powerful authorizations to execute programs that operate at a high level of security but only in a predefined manner. This increases security by allowing users to perform preconfigured tasks in a controlled manner.

TRUSTED SSH

Provides a highly secure and configurable mechanism for secure remote administration of PitBull systems. By encrypting communications between machines, Trusted SSH eliminates the risk of network administration data being intercepted prior to its delivery to the destination system.
